Language Lab Installation at Cotton College, Assam

Oréll Talk-P2, the premium edition of Oréll language lab has been set up at the smart room of Cotton College, Assam. The software installation and post-installation training was carried out by Mr. Abhinav, the Technical Support Executive of Oréll. The P2 version can accommodate two hundred users at the same time so that the language faculty of Cotton College can combine two or more classes to conduct common language classes and assign lessons and activities all together.

Oréll language laboratory is very much helpful for practicing and assessing one’s speech in any language. It enables the student to listen to model speech, repeat and record the same, listen to their pronunciation and compare with the model, and to do self-evaluation. Since the language lab gives every learner maximum freedom to learn at their own pace, it does not essentially require a teacher all the time. At the same time, it is feasible for teachers to give help individually and collectively. Oréll language laboratory lets every participant their own space to speak and listen.

Cotton College came into existence on 27th May, 1901 through the untiring efforts of Late Manik Chandra Barooah and Rai Bahadur Bhuban Ram Das, backed by the generous support from the educational visionaries of the region. In 2016, Cotton College was reaccredited (third cycle) Grade ‘A++’ by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) with and the University Grants Commission (UGC) recognized it as a ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ in 2005. The College is also recognized by UGC as a ‘Special Heritage College’, under the scheme ‘Special Heritage Status to Colleges’ in 2015.
